Through four films from across the Arab world, a comparative gaze unfolds on youth at a moment of rupture — between childhood and adulthood, between personal identity and a society that does not always grant it space. Set against shifting political and social landscapes, these films explore the coming-of-age experience.

This journey stems from my bond with my grandmother, who raised me in a culture and language that gradually faded from my life. Five years after her passing, I returned to them through music and cinema — an attempt to mourn, bridge, and reconnect with an identity I had once distanced myself from.

(Linguistic note — the title “أربعة الفيلم” is intentionally written in a way that does not follow the standard rules of Modern Standard Arabic.)
